Woodworking Machinery Industrialists Association (AIMSAD) was established in Istanbul on June 6, 2014. 

The mission of AIMSAD, whose first steps towards the establishment of it were taken by businessmen from Bursa and its foundations were laid by being impressed by the non-governmental organizations in Europe; is to provide cooperation, solidarity and knowledge exchange among its member companies being active as manufacturers or representatives in the woodworking machinery and side industries; to make studies and commitments to solve its members’ problems related to economic, financial, legal, administrative, technological, manufacturing, export and import and to expand the domestic and global markets for woodworking machinery and side industry products and reach them the most advanced level.

In order to achieve its mission, AIMSAD regards the Turkish Industrial Strategy Document and Action Plan with the Turkish Machinery Industry Strategy Document and Action Plan which represent important road maps towards 2023 targets of our country as guidelines and adopts the principle of creating added value for our country by conducting activities aligned with these guidelines and Action Plans of them.

Although AIMSAD was established by woodworking  machinery manufacturers and centered in Istanbul, it foresees to bring all related companies from the machinery and side industries together under its roof, across Turkey. For this reason, geographical regions that most of the companies of the sector focus on even in its administrative bodies are considered and it is given importance to represent all the side industries.

AIMSAD’s principle membership is corporate; it  is an association which is open to all companies doing business in the sector consisted of woodworking machinery and manufacturers and representatives of the products of side industries of these machines, and which is active in social, cultural, commercial and economical fields. In addition to the principle members which are corporate, AIMSAD also has honorary and academic members. Individuals from scientific and business environments who contribute to the development of the sector of AIMSAD or individuals assessed to contribute to AIMSAD with their academic studies are invited and accepted as members under these categories.

The headquarter of AIMSAD is in Kartal District, and the number of AIMSAD members has reached to 62 as of October 2019.

The mid-term aims of AIMSAD is to submit position papers to Ministries and other official authorities by participating in committees related to the sector, to contribute to the sectoral activities, establishing good relations and efficient partnership with the associations of furniture sector which have a close relationship with the woodworking sector, to make initiatives for the encourage the adaptation of member countries to modern manufacturing technologies; to represent the sector in certain fairs in abroad; and to promote the sector and its members comprehensively.

The long-term aims of AIMSAD is; to contribute to raise qualified technical personnel and operators to perform their duties  in various levels within member companies by cooperating with apprenticeship training centers, technical and industrial vocational high schools, vocational schools of higher education and universities; to provide educators with modern technology and knowledge; and to provide the most accurate and efficient use of woodworking machinery by establishing AIMSAD Applied Technical Training and Test Centers.

In line with these targets, AIMSAD participates in both national and international meetings in order to provide support for the solution of the sectoral problems by representing its members before chambers and other similar organizations.

Being aware of the importance of woodworking machinery and side industries sectors for the national economy, AIMSAD always acts on the vision of being capable of  making more active works with its all administrative bodies and member companies. One of the priority activity plan of AIMSAD is to compensate the lack of a database providing sectoral database and an information network revealing reliable statistics of woodworking machinery and its side industries in Turkey.

In this context, AIMSAD’s activities are being conducted through committees established within its corporate structure. AIMSAD creates special committees for individual sectors by considering the interests of all member companies; and encourages the related member companies to take part in these committees on developing their own solution recommendations and road maps.

AIMSAD works with Manufacturers Committee, Importers Committee, Training and After Sale Services Committee, Press, Publication and Promotion Committee, Fairs Committee and Women’s Committee; and it is possible to appoint new committees upon new arising needs and demands requests from the member countries.

AIMSAD aims to be a member of international sectoral NGOs, particularly in Europe, and to represent Turkey within these organizations; the first steps towards achieving this aim were taken with the participation in the General Assembly of European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers (EUMABOIS) held in Verona, Italy on September 12, 2014. AIMSAD has become a member of EUMABOIS since the end of 2014 and selected for the EUMABOIS Board Membership in the General Assembly held in Luzern, Switzerland in September, 2016. Moreover, AIMSAD hosted the EUMABOIS General Assembly which is to be held in Turkey in 2018.

 

Publications

AIMSAD began to publish its own journal since July, 2015. Each issue of the journal publishes bimonthly and circulates 4.000 copies.

On the other hand, AIMSAD publishes its own member catalog in May of each year that includes information of members with Turkish and English languages and circulates 5.000 copies in domestic and international shows.

 

Fair and Organization

AIMSAD supports the WOODTECH International Woodworking Machinery, Cutting Tools and Hand Tools Fair organized annually in Istanbul by REED TUYAP Fairs Inc., and Woodworking Machinery Fair to be held in Anatolian Cities by TUYAP Fairs Inc. from 2017. In addition, Woodworking Technologies Panels in 2017 and 2018 with the participation of more than 70 academicians from different cities of Turkey were organized. International fairs supported by AIMSAD are determined in each year and members are informed. In some international fairs, a pavilion stand organization with member companies are made. AIMSAD has successfully represented the Turkish Woodworking Machinery sector by participating in 25 different international fairs in Germany, Italy, Dubai, Iran, Russia, Poland, USA, Greece, India, Egypt and Ukrain in five years.
